Recently got back from two days on the Hill trying to help restore some sanity to our lending and housing industry regulations!

The big one for many of our clients is allowing appraisal portability and other appraisal reforms that will help protect consumers from the poorly thought out and executed current appraisal policies. Do you think the appraisal process needs reform? (LOL!) let me know. I'll pass along your comments to the Senators and Representatives we met with. There’s a growing consensus that appraisal policies have shifted inherent bias toward lower appraised values. This creates problems, just like having a bias toward higher appraised values does.

Another big area of concern is the whole foreclosure, short sale, modification conundrum. The members we spoke with are very interested in new ideas for solving these problems. They know what has been tried isn't working. Do you have an idea? Let me know. We will also pass your ideas along.

As President-Elect of the California Association of Mortgage Professionals (CAMP), and soon to be the president, I have the opportunity to pass on ideas from those of us who are in the trenches that don't often get heard in Congress. Let me know what's on your mind.
